Glen Head is a hamlet in the town of Oyster Bay on the North Shore of Long Island. Glen Head was the area of the large Cedar Swamp area that was east of Hempstead Harbor. During the 17th century some of the land was settled by the Dutch and English, however, this area did not see any construction for at least 100 years after the settlements began to appear close by. When the Duryea Starch factory was built in 1850, workers settled in this area. North Shore School district is home to three elementary schools including Sea Cliff Elementary, Glenwood Elementary, and Glen Head Elementary along with 1 middle school and 1 high school. The area is also home to all kinds of quaint restaurants, shops, and businesses.
